Team Green Britain Bike Week

Team Green Britain Bike Week is the biggest nationwide cycling event in the UK. Team Green Britain Bike Week will run from 19-27 June 2010 and will challenge people to rethink their everyday journeys and switch to cycling as the most convenient way to get around. The theme for 2010 is ‘Everyday cycling for everyone’.

Team Green Britain, founded by EDF Energy, is a movement that enables people to live in a more sustainable way. Team Green Britain aims to help Britons reduce their carbon footprint by 2012 and provides advice on how to make everyday journeys as sustainable as possible.

The sponsorship will fund thirteen group mentoring workshops around the UK for new and existing event organisers, a set of tailored Event Organiser Guides and increased website functionality. Team Green Britain’s 700,000 strong community will not only help Bike Week reach more people than ever before, but the added number of events they bring could make this year’s Team Green Britain Bike Week the biggest yet.

Limelight Sports has managed Bike Week since 2008 and is responsible for event organiser management and support, website development, commercial partnerships, steering group liaison and delivering the workshops across the UK.

In 2009, over 440,000 participants took part in the Bike Week at 1,812 events. There was extensive media coverage before and throughout Bike Week, including 1,750 articles in the media.
